Ah this is a beautifully animated little fan film by John Banana who is clearly a fan of The Rocketeer with pure passion oozing through. I particularly love the clean “child-like” 3D style, perfect for a kids cartoon (or more like movie) competing with some of Hollywood’s best. The perfect homage to the late Dave Stevens who sadly passed away in March 2008.

20 international animators and studios combined with 11 of the best sound design studios were invited to explore the relationship between geometry and audio in this series of fucking awesome video extravaganza bits. Fuck me this is probably the most creative shit I’ve seen this year! In love with the audiovisual design.

Resonance is the vision of SR Partners; a collaborative project with over 30 independent visual and audio designers/studios. The aim was to explore the relationship between geometry and audio in unique ways.

Typographic pr0n for n00bs & 1337′s alike!

My mate Nic$hake linked me to this (relatively bland) article called Finally, A Type-Design Program That Teaches Beginners The Ropes a while ago. Well more like a few days ago, but that doesn’t really matter at all, the point is that I was too busy to read it and watch the video. Having calmed down for a few minutes during my insane workload schedule I dragged my eyes over the text and let the vid stream. Instant. Typographical. Boner! This shit is too damn cool, splashed with a bit of DJ Shadow I believe to make you want it even more, it would be an amazing tool for anyone working in digital type. To edit fonts on the fly like that and to create your own mood with the type for whatever project you need is just too fucking cool. Watch it and you’ll see what I mean:

Now I don’t think the concept itself as I have seen previous experiments with the LAIKA font editor thingymajig where you can tweak letters in exactly the same fashion, but I had never really expected or even thought that this could be some technology we as designers use as a tool. Pretty fucking cool.

LAIKA’s presentation may be weak in comparison and lack a certain coolness but you must remember that it is quite possibly the originator of the same concept not to mention it came out over 2 years ago I think…

This shit makes me SO happy.

While everyone has had theirs hands full masturbating over the speculation of the new iOS and windows mobile crap something beautiful has spilled through everyones fingers. idaa, who I’ve never fucking heard of before, but who certainly have my attention have created a customizable mobile phone OS that I reckon I could get quite used too. Under the lead of designer Fukazawa Naoto, idaa have managed to come up with a solution that leaves the user in charge of their mobile devise in a day and age where the mobile giants try to strip any sort of individuality from the end user.

Now obviously I don’t speak this lanuage, chinese/japan whatever. I’m not smart enough to know the difference, anyway she sounds HOT (if you know what I mean) and is probably saying all kinds of cool shit about the phone. Obviously >_<

YEAR ZERO ~ OFFF Barcelona 2011

Whoa! Apparently this was only out from a few nights ago but fucking hell these titles for OFFF Barcelona 2011 is bionically insane!

WATCH:

“Written by Mischa Rozema and British graphic designer, Si Scott, the opening titles reflect their dark thoughts on a possible future. Directed by Mischa and shot on location in Prague, the film guides the viewer through a grim scenario embedded with the names of artists appearing at this year’s OFFF festival. The live action was brought back to Amsterdam for post, primarily carried out by PostPanic’s in-house team of artists but also with the additional help of freelancers and partner companies that we have enjoyed strong creative relationships with over the years. It’s really fair to say that this was a labour of love by a passionate crew of people.

Mischa Rozema, Director, says:
“We knew we wanted to make something that would unsettle and menace the audience. It was always going to be dark but also highly aesthetic. This project has filled our spare hours for the past 6 months and it is incredibly satisfying to work on something that we were given complete creative freedom on – that’s a rare luxury these days.”

Says Ania Markham, Executive Producer at PostPanic:
“The images created by the crew of people working on the titles has been unbelievable, with nationalities represented including Dutch, Czech, English, Polish, German, Swedish and Belgian. It’s been a great opportunity for all of us to work together on a non-commercial project we’re passionate about and we’re so proud of the combined effort and final result.”

Early HUD (Heads Up Display) Concepts for Iron Man 2

The guys over at Prologue have done an extraordinary job with all of the VFX work on Iron Man 2. These early concepts of the HUD are no exception. Have a look over at motionographer’s flickr, I can’t stop drooling. Also the interfaces and other work on the Prologue site is just too ridiculously future beautiful.

The animation perfect, models so detailes I’m still sure its real, the audio is digital insanity, fuck, I’m done blogging this shit, I’m gonna watch it again and again for the rest of the evening. One year in the making, we took the time to push this 5 1/2 minute baby as much as possible in both storytelling and technique. The Timeless Motion Work of Machine Molle

Machine Molle (or “Soft Machine” according to the Google translatings) is a studio based in Paris who specialise in motion and graphic design. They pretty much started out back in 1998 as a group of independent specialists in post production and grew from strength to strength forming the afore mentioned Machine Molle in 2006. Um, they “bring together the talents of both designers and technicians” and their studio does crazy animations and special effects for varying forms of media, blah blah.

Jeeez I almost put myself to sleep there. Well I have never really heard of these guys before and I totally should have. You should have too because you’ve definitely seen their work. They have worked on some of the coolest music videos I’ve ever seen and totally wondered who the fuck did that, well now I know. Motherfucking Machine Molle! Check out their crazy dated site, its got so much work on it that you know. mental. But yeah, shit for Justice, Jamaica, U2, Air, Royksopp and adverts for Oasis, HP, Areva, Vodafone and a lot of intro credit stuff for film and a gang of other shit.
